About Firelight Pages

Hi, I'm Sara, and this is the story of how Firelight Pages began.

Back in 2020, during the pandemic, like many people, on top of the wider picture I struggled. I struggled to navigate working from home, I struggled home schooling 3 children, I found it hard not seeing anyone, and not having any alone time. But one of the things that got me through was finding my way back to books.

I started reading more, and discovered a wonderful community on Bookstagram. I was so into what everyone else was reading I started to collect books like treasures and ended up with far more than I could ever read.

A couple of years later, I decided to start an Etsy shop. The original idea was to have something my daughter and I could work on together. She had been struggling with mental health problems and I hoped it could be something to help her look forward.  So I set to work doing the boring bits, the ideas, the research, learning photography etc. with a plan to start it off and hand over reins a few months down the line.

But things never go to plan.

Because I was hooked.

Somewhere along the way, my love of books and stationery came together, and my reading journals were born. I've been designing and creating them ever since.

For someone who LOVES books, journals and stationery, this soon turned into my dream job.

Before all of this, I had even tried to write a novel or two of my own. My brother still likes to remind me that I did end up making a business from books, they just don't have my story in them.

Maybe that's why I love making them so much. The story that goes inside isn't mine.

It's yours.

Firelight Pages, reading at the edge of the day.
